Aquatic Therapy is the practice of physical therapy by a trained PT in a water environment. It utilizes many of the same exercises performed on land, using the buoyancy and resistance of water to enhance these exercises and create a safe environment for rehabilitation. Patients who experience pain with weight bearing are perfect candidates for this type of therapy, as are patients with arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, neurological disorders, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis.
ORS offers a full-size pool, complete with both steps and an electric lift. Thepool is kept at 90 degrees to promote muscle relaxation and reduce pain. To find out more about our aquatic therapy services contact ORS at (213) 742-1450 or visit The Aquatic Physical Therapy section of the APTA for more information. |
